Summary of Course Contents

Courses held by SeniorNet Katikati are for people from entry level (with no previous computer knowledge) through to more advanced computer skills.

NOTE: New members are required to complete the 'Introduction to Computers' course and must complete this before attempting any other further courses.

Each class lasts two hours, with a maximum of 6 students to a class. Normally one tutor and one assistant are present, but this depends entirely on volunteer tutors and assistants.

It is always hoped that as students move from one level to another that they, in turn, will be able to offer to help to those who may only be a step behind them.

Introductory Course - for those who have a little or no computer knowledge - (Course is Free - included in your joining fee).

Easy Word - A simple, easy and fun course - $40.00.  Manual supplied but can be purchased as an optional extra

 What is 'Easy Word'? Well, it's a fascinating course in which we show to how to:

Creating Letter heads
Writing formal and informal letters
Inserting pictures
Creating posters
Adding borders
And more ............................!

Spreadsheets & Data Base - A fun course for the the home user: track your
costs, etc.

Introduction to Email - Send & receive emails, including attachments, setting up your email address book etc. Using Outlook Express.

Have Fun Surfing the Net - How to Search for what you want, how to download information and print what you want.

Producing a Brochure in Word -  Create a Newsletter for your club or family in the form of a brochure.  

Greetings Cards - Design your own cards for those special occasions

Introduction to Clip Art & Word Art - How to use Clipart in Word, also Word Art and use of text boxes.

Housekeeping and maintaining your Computer System -  General computer housekeeping, keeping your 'My Documents' organised, scan disk, deleting Temporary Files, defragging, etc.

Backing Up - How to safeguard your files, against loss or viruses etc.,

Scanning and Photo Editing - Scan your photographs, edit and save.

Mailing Labels and Mail Merge - Set up address data base in Word and use for printing and addressing envelopes etc.

Games - From simple board games to games that really make you think.

Additional New Courses :

Scanning and Photo Editing expanded - How to use digital camera images as an alternate source of pictures.

Digital Music - How to play CD's on your computer, downloading music from the net, converting to MP3 format

Digital Photography - How to take photos with your Digital Camera, Download to your computer and edit them. Please note that due to the variations in Windows Operating Systems, different cameras types and variations in software this is a particularly difficult course to coach, but we aim to try and steer you in the right direction.

Membership is $35.00 for a single and $55.00 double.
